This creepy Russian fortress looks like it's got a ton of stalatite icicles hanging down, only they are actual red brick. They (those Russians with their little fuzzy hats with the earflaps tied all up on top) were testing an alternative to napalm and the temperatures got so hot that the brick was actually melted and oozed down like icicles. Board Trackers

In the early 1900s, there was a huge motorcycle racing phenomenon known as board track racing. These guys would race in the huge bowls made of 2X4's or 2X6's at speeds of around 120 with no brakes and no clutches. Naturally a lot of deaths and injuries occured. They didn't usually wear gloves or protective gear other than old leather football helmets. These guys had brass cajones. Due to the injuries and high cost of repair on the wooden tracks, the sport faded away. Here's a neat little video on it:

The ol' bike is coming together pretty well. Especially after acquiring another for donor parts. Hopefully I can take 2 pieces of crap and make 1 complete piece of crap. Yesterday I installed the dirtbike bend down bars and freaking love the stance. The huge seat is definitely going in trade for a small low single style seat. I haven't decided yet on the big dual guages. I kind of like them, but don't know how they're going to fit in. I'm ditching the blue side panel in favor of an old square number plate so it will have the old flat tracker dirt look. Kind of like this jewel:

What I have left is going to turn into a cafe style unless I change my mind in five minutes like I usually do, but here's how it looks as of now:

"The Camino del Rey, a walkway constructed on the gorge wall that travels the full length of the gorge and sits a hundred meters above the canyon base is an unusual feature. Walking out on this 80 year-old suspended sidewalk had me shaking in fear from the sudden exposure. The walkway is no longer in the best shape, with sections of concrete broken away. Even though parts of the walkway have fallen, walking the full length is still possible. It is said that the walkway was built so that the King could observe the engineering work taking place in the gorge. Instead of Royalty, the walkway now carries climbers to their chosen climb."

The dwarf looked up at Sam and said, "I am NOT happy!"

Gas Pumps

Two aliens landed in the Arizona desert near a gas station that was closed for the night. They approached one of the gas pumps and the younger alien addressed it, saying, "Greetings, Earthling. We come in peace. Take us to your leader."

The gas pump, of course, did not respond. The younger alien became angry at the lack of response. The older alien said, "I'd calm down if I were you."

The younger alien ignored the warning and repeated his greeting. Again, there was no response. Annoyed by what he perceived to be the pump's haughty attitude, he drew his ray gun and said impatiently, "Greetings, Earthling! We come in peace. Do not ignore us this way. Take us to your leader or I will fire!"

The older alien again warned his comrade. "You probably don't want to do that. I really don't think you should make him mad."

"Rubish," replied the cocky, young alien. He aimed his weapon at the pump and opened fire. There was a huge explosion. A massive fireball roared towards them and blew the younger alien off his feet and deposited him a burnt, smoking mess about 200yards away in a cactus patch.

Half an hour passed. When he finally regained consciousness, he refocused his three eyes, straightened his bent antenna, and looked dazedly at the older, wiser alien, who was standing over him shaking his big, green head.

Exclaimed the young, fried alien, "How did you know he was so dangerous."

The older alien leaned over, placed a friendly feeler on his crispy friend, and replied, "If there's one thing I've learned during my intergalactic travels, it is that you don't want to mess with a guy who can loop his penis over his shoulder twice and then stick it in his ear."

The Spartans have returned. Typing is a huge task as sore as I am. Floyd pulled out 15th in his class of around 30 and I got an 11th spot out of 20 some. Just glad I saw the checkers instead of wimping out on the first lap like Clay City. Here's a post-race pic:

A plane flew over an indigenous tribe in the Brazilian-Peruvian area and caught a rare glimpse at a tribe that has never had contact with the outside world. The photos are awesome, but it's a little upsetting that now these guys are probably freaked out by wondering what the hell that big silver bird was. The plane flew over once and saw some children and women out in the open. The next fly-over about 2 hours later found the people painted in bright colors, which is typical of a tribe when they are threatened or get aggressive. Get more photos and the whole story here.

This photo doesn't seem all that impressive, until you found out that it was taken with a homemade camera by a homeless man that wondered the streets in the '70s.

"Tichý is truly one of the great ‘finds’ of unknown artists who worked on the outside edges of the art world. Following the Communist takeover, Tichý spent some eight years in prison camps and jails for no particular reason other than he was ‘different’ and was considered subversive. Upon his release in the early 70’s, Tichý wandered his small town in rags, pursuing his obsession as an artist with the female form by photographing in the streets, shops and parks with cameras he made from tin cans, childrens spectacle lenses and other junk he found on the street. He would return home each day to make prints on equally primitive equipment, making only one print from the negatives he selected."
